Mid Michigan History: Downtown car shows
In 1918 (right) Martin Naumes displayed his stock of 1918 Dodge automobiles four abreast and eight deep in the 100 block of East Broadway. Naumes sold cars until his 1938 death. His son Bernard had Naumes Motor Sales at 200 N. Mission, which became Hartman Motors, Burgers, and is now Shaheen Motors.
Gun indictments handed down
A federal grand jury has indicted a man and woman for being in possession of drugs and a handgun that police found during a vehicle stop in Independence last week.

Fleischmann Invest $598,000 In His Campaign: Smith Raises $623,103
Chattanooga attorney Chuck Fleischmann has put $598,000 into his campaign to become the next 3rd District Congress representative. And Robin Smith of Hixson is by far the leader in gathering individual and PAC contributions, amassing a total $623,103.
